Like the writer Jean Genet, J.D. Cadinot seemed to have some fascination with the criminal element of the streets, and this one is no exception. "Street Smart" begins innocently enough, with some very silly 80's pop music, and a trio of street guys dressed in some hilariously bad clothing. The beginning is fairly slow, which is unlike the other works of this director, who typically uses fast editing and spends little time on each sex scene. Here the sex is slow and more intimate, but soon this gathers momentum, as each erotic scene becomes a bit more aggressive and raunchy than the last. Cadinot is known for his storytelling talent, and "Street Smart" has quite a fun story, dealing with a stolen suitcase of sex toys, that for some reason, every Arab thug in town is willing to kill for. The scenes towards the second half of this film are more like rapes than typical sex scenarios, and it is mostly interracial.
